City of Great Falls Parking Advisory Commission Survey |
1. Downtown Parking Survey
Bearing in mind that the Parking Advisory Commission is trying to maintain & expand existing retail downtown, we need to patrol streets and have people working downtown parking in the off-street parking lots and parking garages. The Great Falls Parking Advisory Commission’s long term goal is to make downtown a vibrant mix of office and retail establishments.
The City of Great Falls parking program is currently in a break-even situation. On average, monthly revenues are ± $50,000 [±62% from off-street parking (parking garages/parking lots) and ± 38% from on-street parking meters)] and monthly expenses are ± $50,000 (including Standard Parking contract, repairs & maintenance, utilities, insurance, vehicles, equipment, computers, supplies, administration, and reseal/restripe of garages and surface lots). All debt service has been retired, so there are no bonds to be paid or other capital investment obligations (i.e. construction of parking garages).
The Parking Fund is an enterprise-type fund that does not generate or receive General Fund dollars, so parking revenues and expenses must be kept in balance to keep the Parking Fund solvent.
